Privacy

Last updated October 2, 2026. The short version: your name stays with your reading, your album picks may be counted anonymously, and we never sell your name or anything that identifies you.

What you give us

First names and five albums each. These are needed to write the reading.
Optional answers after the reading: birth year and how you mostly listen to music. Skip them if you like.
If you buy the Full Session, Stripe handles the payment. We never see your card number.

What we collect automatically

Your rough country, from your internet connection. We don't store your IP address with your reading.
Short-lived counters (kept about two days) that limit how many free readings one connection can run in a day.
A bot check from Cloudflare Turnstile, and basic error logs.

How it's used

To write your reading. Your names and albums are sent to Anthropic's Claude, the AI that writes the reading. Album searches go to Apple (iTunes) and, as a backup, Deezer.
To show it to whoever has the link. Readings live at a private, hard-to-guess link for one year. Anyone you send the link to can see the names and albums in it.
Anonymous music stats. Unless you untick "Count these picks", we keep an anonymous record of the albums you picked and their order, your country, the date, and any optional answers. It contains no names and never appears on your reading's page. We use these counts to understand musical taste (for example, the most popular desert-island albums by generation) and we may publish them or share or license them, in aggregate, to partners such as music companies and media. We never sell or share your name or anything meant to identify you.

Who handles the data

Cloudflare (hosting and storage), Anthropic (writing the reading), Apple and Deezer (album search and covers), and Stripe (payments). Each uses the data only to provide its service to us.

Your choices

Untick "Count these picks in anonymous music stats" before you press Analyze, and your picks won't be counted.
To delete a reading, send us its link at the contact address on this page (coming soon). We'll remove it and its stats record.
If you live in California, Europe, the UK or elsewhere with privacy rights, you can ask to see, correct or delete your data at the same address. We don't sell personal information.

Kids

Analyze My Island Five is not meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top.
